The person (DJ) we had was newly qualified. He was lovely & enthusiastic. Did feel a bit textbook at times, but the more he does and the knowledge he gains, he will be even better. Well done DJ ??The experience itself wasn't what i expected though. Didn't realise it was in a pub. I thought we were going for a tour of a brewery, but it was just the stills in the corner. They weren't even being used and no mention was made about the process of brewing. A couple of beers were not available, so were substituted. There were none available to buy. The "buy your beers here" fridge was empty. I did ask. Kind of defeats the point of going if you can't buy what you've tasted. They are missing a trick. Place itself was grubby. Sticky floor, glasses not clean, surfaces were dusty and you could see the ring prints where kegs had been moved. The stools were disgusting, wobbly, badly stained and some were worn right through. Also, the house adverts on the TV - VERY bizarre! Odd nude people drinking beer and reacting to the flavour. Most surreal! The ladies had no loo roll in by 2pm, not sure when those were last checked. Thought we were getting a good price, paid £70 . But if we turned up directly we would have paid £25 for the class, and an additional beer and burger was £10. So no saving at all. Infact would have got a couple of additional beers! The food was alright at best - very basic. I expected gourmet. These seem small things, but together made the overall experience "meh, it was ok", rather than "that was great". Came away saying, "well, it was something different to do on an a saturday afternoon". Finally - safety point. On arrival, 2 jars of hops on table as part of set up. Half hour after arrival told " the only serious thing about the masterclass is don't taste the hops as you will lose your sense of taste for 2 weeks!" Perhaps don't leave them on the table before the class begins, or put a safety warning on the jars!!! Happy for you to contact me. Thanks.

A long postponed event because of covid but my son and I really enjoyed this experience. 8 beers to try and lots of info about them. We were a small group of just 7 so it was very personal and friendly. The only issue was having to travel distance to do this, but it was well worth it.

We spent a very pleasant 3 hours sampling 8 beers in the company of our guide & mentor DJ. DJ is very knowledgeable about beers and was passed on some of his expertise to our group. We also had a really tasty meal. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone - beginner or experienced beer aficionado
